ICAP’s Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) Package for Providers: PrEParing for Choice was developed by ICAP at Columbia University to promote the introduction and implementation of multiple PrEP products. The material is designed to capacitate health care teams with the knowledge and skills to counsel clients about PrEP and PrEP options, conduct effective PrEP initiation visits, and monitor and support ongoing PrEP use.
Support for PrEP Choice: The toolkit reflects current World Health Organization recommendations on oral daily PrEP; event-driven PrEP; long-acting injectable cabotegravir as PrEP; the dapivirine vaginal ring; and person-centered PrEP counseling.
PrEP products are presented in stand-alone modules that can be combined according to PrEP product availability and program training needs. The counseling module includes training on informed choice counseling to help clients decide which available PrEP option is best for them.
