In 2019, ICAP, in collaboration with the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), developed three sets of illustrated messages for parents and caregivers about:
- Preventing perinatal transmission of HIV
- Stimulating early learning and responsive parenting
- Guidance on safety and violence prevention
These messages may be used as stand-alone resources, and also could be used as a supplement to The Essential Package, a comprehensive set of tools and guides for program managers and service providers supporting programs that address the unique needs and competencies of vulnerable children in a holistic way.
The development of the Essential Package, which was published in 2013, was led by the Inter-Agency Task Force on ECD and AIDS (IATF) within the Consultative Group and co-chaired by CARE and Save the Children.
These materials may be adapted as needed to fit local context. If the materials are adapted, ICAP and CDC must be acknowledged and the materials must be distributed free of charge.
