Wafaa El-Sadr, MD, MPH, MPA, global director of ICAP, was consulted for a Jan 19 article in the Wall Street Journal which listed frequently asked questions about preparing for the COVID-19 vaccine, answered by doctors across the United States. When asked about the differences between the two vaccine options available to eligible patients across the U.S., Dr. El-Sadr emphasized that the two vaccines have been found to be similarly safe and effective. Eventually, choosing one vaccine over the other may come down to scheduling conflicts, she emphasized, as the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine is offered 21 days later, while Moderna is offered 28 days later.
