Wafaa El-Sadr, MD, MPH, MPA, global director of ICAP, was quoted in an Oct 19 article speaking to the advantages offered by a community-targeted response to flare-ups of new COVID-19 infections. New York City’s new round of virus shutdowns zeroes in on individual neighborhoods, closing schools and businesses in hot spots measuring just a couple of square miles. Dr. El-Sadr, who serves on several city advisory boards, is following New York City’s efforts closely:
“It is pragmatic in appreciation of ‘restriction fatigue’ … but it is strategic, allowing for mobilization of substantial resources to where they are needed most.”
