Wafaa El-Sadr, MD, MPH, MPA, global director of ICAP, was consulted for an Oct 28 article in the Gothamist, which examined how the COVID-19 testing landscape remains relatively complicated. There are now a myriad of tests, many of them boasting fast result times. Experts say it’s important to keep in mind that information on the reliability of these tests is still evolving. While antibody tests may satisfy people’s curiosity about whether they have been infected, they are not considered very accurate Dr. El-Sadr says:

“We also don’t know if the antibodies detected are protective. So much remains to be learned about those tests.”
