Dr. Mark Hawken has been involved in HIV operational research and HIV programming for over 15 years. As the country director for ICAP in Kenya, he provides technical oversight on the design, implementation, and evaluation of all HIV/AIDS, reproductive health, and TB service delivery projects. Dr. Hawken has published on the efficacy of tuberculosis preventive therapy in HIV-infected adults and other aspects of TB/HIV and has been the co-investigator on two operational studies led by ICAP, examining the use of macronutrients in HIV-infected individuals and a behavioral prevention intervention for people living with HIV. Prior to joining ICAP, Dr. Hawken was the director of the International Centre for Reproductive Health, he was responsible for the overall management of ICRH’s research program, serving as principal investigator on four research projects and contributing to several others. He was also responsible for leadership and supervision of 50 programs, research, and support staff.
