ICAP reestablished work in Nigeria in 2019, providing technical support in HIV prevention, treatment, and care programming to the Federal Ministry of Health (FMOH). ICAP’s in-country programming and technical support has increased in lockstep with the needs of the Ministry. Currently, ICAP is focusing on multiple aspects of HIV programming including: differentiated service delivery, recent infection surveillance, health informatics, and health systems strengthening.

Country Director
Adewale Akinjeji, MD, MBA
Dr. Adewale Akinjeji is the country director of ICAP in Nigeria. He joined ICAP in 2017 as the Technical Director for ICAP in Sierra Leone, where he oversaw a complex health system strengthening portfolio that consisted of projects focused on immunization, malaria, HIV/AIDS, QI, M&E, D4D, and infection prevention and control.
Prior to this role, Dr. Akinjeji was a technical officer in health systems strengthening at the World Health Organization (WHO) in Sierra Leone. In Nigeria, he has worked in various capacities at the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) and the Institute of Human Virology Nigeria (IHVN).
Dr. Akinjeji graduated from University of Ibadan Medical School and he also holds an MBA in International Health Care Management from the University of Aberdeen, UK.
