ICAP will host a special satellite session at the upcoming AIDS 2012 conference in Washington, DC. The session, “Nursing and Midwifery: Strengthening A Critical Component of the Health Workforce,” will include expert panelists who will discuss solutions to the workforce crisis, sharing lessons learned, critical issues, and trends in strengthening global health worker cadres, with a special focus on nursing and midwifery. The panel will be moderated by ICAP Director Wafaa El-Sadr and will feature Jennifer Dohrn, program director of the ICAP Nurse Capacity Initative; Deborah Parham Hopson, associate administrator for HIV/AIDS, Health Resources and Services Administration, U.S. Department of Health and Human Service; Address Malata, principal at the Kamuzu School of Nursing at the University of Malawi; and Deborah Von Zinkernagel, principal deputy global AIDS coordinator, Office of the U.S. Global AIDS Coordinator.
