Julie Franks, PhD, is a senior technical specialist within ICAP’s Clinical and Laboratory Unit with a focus on HIV testing and prevention, particularly among key populations heavily impacted by HIV. A social scientist, she has collaborated in the design, implementation, and evaluation of behavioral interventions to promote adherence to HIV treatment and prevention regimens in programmatic and research settings. She also has expertise in training and supporting clinic-based HIV peer educators and their supervisors. She is a founding staff member of ICAP’s Harlem Prevention Center and supports ICAP’s community-based prevention efforts in sub-Saharan Africa. She holds a PhD in history from the State University of New York at Stony Brook.
