ICAP

Technical assistance to the Ministry of Health in the Republic of Kazakhstan to achieve epidemic control of SARS-CoV-2 through improved infection prevention and control practices and procedures

ICAP supports the Ministry of Health to build local and national capacity to respond to the COVID-19 epidemic, including implementing COVID-19 vaccination, strengthening COVID19 surveillance efforts, and strengthening the capacity of facility-level infection prevention and control specialists. To improve facility-level infection prevention and control system, ICAP helped the National Public Health Center (NPHC) to set up a special Center fully devoted to the Coordination of IPC national efforts and supported the development of an IPC certificate course for IPC specialists, clinicians, and facility managers. ICAP also worked with the NCPH to develop and implement a situational assessment of IPC core components at a large sample of in-patient health facilities across Kazakhstan that provided evidence and laid the ground for the national IPC improvement plan. The Chevron-funded project will contribute to the national efforts to improve the quality and safety of health care services by catalyzing positive changes in facility-based infection prevention and control systems.
