ICAP

Provide Miner-Friendly Services for Integrated TB/HIV Care (PROMISE) Study

ICAP conducted implementation science research to evaluate the effectiveness, feasibility, and acceptability of family-focused, integrated TB and HIV services among migrant miners and their families. Specifically, the study sought to understand links between expanded, tailored services to populations most-at-risk for HIV and TB and improved early detection and treatment initiation of HIV and concurrent isoniazid preventive therapy among migrant miners and their families.

This intervention leveraged ICAP’s partnership with TEBA Limited, an employment agency for miners, and includes structural, clinical, and psychosocial components, including service provision at TEBA offices and real-time adherence support using SMS text messaging and lay counselors.
