Dr. Suzue Saito is an epidemiologist and public health specialist with over 20 years of experience in designing and implementing large-scale strategic information systems for PEPFAR-funded surveillance and HIV care and treatment programs. Most recently, as the project director for the Tracking with Recency Assays to Control the Epidemic (TRACE) Project, and, previously, as director of Strategic Information for the Population-based HIV Impact Assessment (PHIA) Project, Dr. Saito has gained extensive experience standing up surveillance systems to identify and track HIV-1 recent infections and conducting national household surveys in resource-limited settings. Further, as the principal investigator of strategic information strengthening projects in Lesotho and the Democratic Republic of Congo, she has also supported the national health information management systems to collect and manage high-quality program data for all disease areas to improve data-driven public health programming. Dr. Saito additionally has led and supported a number of public health evaluations and research studies to characterize the HIV epidemic and evaluate the impact of innovative health services, using implementation science and quasi-experimental study designs. Dr. Saito holds a Doctoral Degree in Epidemiology from the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University.
