Building Capacity with Training and Education
ICAP provides a range of training and education initiatives with the goal of supporting health management teams to deliver comprehensive health services. The broad expertise and experience of ICAP staff in New York, regional, and country offices ensures high-quality education and training programs for all levels of the health system, from primary health care facilities, model centers, and referral hospitals to district, provincial, and national directorates. ICAP tailors its training initiatives to meet the unique challenges facing different healthcare systems, offering both in-person and distance education programs. Focus areas include:
- Training and skills building for all professional cadres, including clinicians, nurses and midwives, counselors, peer educators, laboratory and pharmacy personnel, program managers, and administrative and finance staff
- Development of clinical support tools and training materials adapted to local settings
- E-journal club and Grand Round Webinars, to keep professionals abreast of the latest scientific findings that impact our work
- Strengthening of managerial, administrative, and financial systems
- Improving clinics, laboratories, and pharmacies
- Procurement of medication, supplies, and equipment
- Enhancing patient education, counseling, and outreach services
- Training and empowerment of people living with HIV/AIDS and support for peer educator programs
