Wafaa El-Sadr, MD, MPH, MPA, global director of ICAP, was consulted for a Nov 18 article in The New York Times which explained how states that imposed fewer restrictions have the worst outbreaks. Dr. El-Sadr said one of the biggest problems in the United States so far has been the lack of a coherent, cohesive national response:

“It’s been piecemeal, it’s been largely delegated to a subnational level, to the states, for example, and municipalities to figure it out themselves.”
